ALAN HOVHANESS INTERNATIONAL RESEARCH CENTRE ESTABLISHES COLLECTION AT THE LIBRARY OF CONGRESS

A collection of more than 2,000 individual items copied from the Alan Hovhaness International Research Centre's archives in Yerevan, were recently donated to the Library of Congress.

The collection includes copies of valuable and historic documents: letters, photographs, audio and video recordings, concert programmes, critiques, newspaper and magazine articles, and reminiscences both written and spoken, of those who knew Alan Hovhaness.

It is hoped that once catalogued, the Library of Congress Alan Hovhaness Collection will become a valuable resource for researchers, scholars, and students of the music of Alan Hovhaness.

The Library of Congress wrote to the Cristofori Foundation and to the Alan Hovhaness International Research Centre in Yerevan:

"...This archive will be maintained, conserved, and serviced by the Music Division of the Library of Congress. We are grateful to you for making this important and valuable gift possible. This gift will be a most welcome addition to the collection conserved by the Library's Music Division...Thank you for your thoughtfulness, generosity, and for your support of the Library of Congress and its programs..."
