Alexan Zakyan (left,) coordinator of the Alan Hovhaness International Research Centre, receives from Aram Gharabekian (right,) director of the National Chamber Orchestra of Armenia, the original honorary doctorate awarded in 1987 to Alan Hovhaness by the Boston Conservatory of Music.
The presentation was made onstage at Komitas Chamber Music Hall, Yerevan. Alan Hovhaness received five honorary doctorates during his lifetime.
